At Serra Honda of Champaign, we like to think outside of the box when it comes to family vehicles. For a small SUV, the Honda CR-V features an array of powerful tech systems, including the innovative remote key feature.
Here’s an overview of how to start the Honda CR-V with the remote key.
What is Remote Key?
Honda’s remote key is a multi-functional device that you can use with the systems in your Honda CR-V. Its main function is being able to start the engine remotely while you are away from the vehicle.
You can even control the car’s climate from afar. The remote key can operate the air conditioning and heating systems, warming the car up to 72 degrees.
How Does Remote Key Work?
The remote start function works from up to 400 feet away from the Honda CR-V. As you approach the car, press the Lock button, then press and hold the Engine button for five seconds. After that, you should hear the engine remotely start.
The engine in the Honda CR-V will run for up to 10 minutes when started remotely. To extend the running time by another 10 minutes, repeat the initial steps. You can extend it another 10 minutes by doing the same.
All lights and other electronic accessories will remain off while the engine runs remotely. The climate control system will also bring the interior temperature to pre-programmed levels.
Turning Off Remotely
To turn the engine off from a distance, press and hold the Engine button. If any door is open, the engine will automatically stop. If it runs for more than 10 minutes without being adjusted, the engine will stop.
Try this intuitive system out for yourself and take the 2022 Honda CR-V for a test drive at Serra Honda of Champaign!
