Honda SUV Comparison: HR-V vs CR-V
When it comes time to purchase your next vehicle, we know that safety, technology, and comfort are three of the main factors driving your decision. Luckily, Honda’s current SUV lineup has quality vehicles with top-rated safety features, the latest technology, and versatile interior space for your Savoy family vehicle. When looking for a compact SUV, Honda offers two great options, the HR-V and the CR-V, both available at our Serra Honda Champaign dealership today. Follow along as we break down the major differences between the Honda HR-V and the Honda CR-V and find out which SUV is the right fit for you.
The main difference that you will find between these two vehicles is size. The HR-V is a subcompact SUV while the CR-V is classified as a compact SUV. While both SUVs seat up to 5 passengers, the total passenger volume in the HR-V is 100.1 cubic feet and 105.9 cubic feet in the CR-V. If you plan on hauling more adult passengers than children, the CR-V may be a better choice for you. The Honda CR-V also has a significantly larger cargo area, capable of holding up to 39.2 cubic feet behind the second row. Cargo space for the HR-V is 24.3 cubic feet, but thanks to the HR-V’s coveted second-row Magic Seat large cargo can be handled with ease with the second row dropped in the HR-V. The Honda HR-V comes in at a cheaper starting MSRP of $21,020 and is available in four trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. The Honda CR-V starts at an MSRP of $25,350 and is available in four trims as well: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. While pricing will vary between both models on trim levels and options, the HR-V is the less overall expensive choice between the two.
Both the Honda HR-V and the Honda CR-V have available Honda Sensing technology, which is Honda’s safety suite of multiple features including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and more. Honda Sensing is standard across all trims on the CR-V, but is only standard on the HR-V’s EX or EX-L trims. Lower trim level HR-V models do come with a rearview camera equipped. Both the CR-V and HR-V earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and an overall good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Honda HR-V and the Honda CR-V have impressive technology features and amenities to keep you and your passengers connected. Both vehicles have available seven inch infotainment displays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, standard bluetooth, and USB ports found throughout the cabin. Both vehicles can also be optioned with a premium stereo, ambient interior lighting, and much more. Regardless of which Honda compact SUV you choose, you’ll be pleased with the available technology.
